Nine trails consisting of in total 170k! Should you by all means get bored, you have Bouillon with its famous Godefroy trail just around the corner, but we have to say that Paliseul commune has put in an extensive effort to make us avid mountain bikers feel welcome. And you are not limited to Paliseul itself to find the trails. The loops connect with Carlsbourg, Fays-Les-Veneurs and Maissin.

The Paliseul Tourist Office (Syndicat d'Initiative) (click on Promenades VTT) is located at Grand Place (see map). The first trail signs as well as an excellent overview can be found just a block away. The Paliseul people speak French only but show lots of friendliness and patience when you try your best!

NB. Always try to encourage the effort made: Buy the trail map and help finance mountain biking in the area!

Getting there

  1. Take the E411.
  2. Take exit 24.
  3. Follow signs for Transinne, Maissin and then Paliseul.

Ride review
3 July 2004; Atef, Minna, Victoria, Steve and James

Minna:

During our weekend stay here we tried out the yellow, blue and some of the green trails. I have never seen better trail signs, nor have I seen such a big variety of riding being provided within each loop. Gravel roads and tarmac, yes, but there was even more of singletrack, challenging steepy uphills, dazzling descents, stones and roots in abundance. Awwww ...

We stayed in a gîte in Fays-Les-Veneurs, south of Paliseul, and the yellow trail went just past our door step!
