signTrails number 11 through 15 interconnect and overlap, starting fom the parking lot by the Hôtel de Ville. The 1:25,000/1:50,000-scaled map can be purchased from Syndicat d'Initiative de Lierneux. Beware, though, if they charge you more than Brussels-based NGI (3.72 euro) it might be because they include detailed brochures with pictures of each trail along with panorama/physical/technical ratings. Your choice.

NB. Always try to encourage the effort made: Buy the trail map and help finance mountain biking in the area!

We were here for a weekend in June 2005 and, to be honest, I had not prepared my bike to the fullest for all the climbing, and so I found myself getting irritated having to continuously negotiate a worn-out cassette. Trail signs, although of quite good quality, seemed highly ambiguous and frustratingly confusing at first, with the natural consequence of us getting lost. argh Lots of climbing, not so much singletrack ... but in the afternoon enjoyable enough for us to "just ride", and us ending up doing an interesting mix of trails instead of the intended trail number 15.

NB. The map also covers the permanent mountain bike trails of Vielsalm, trails 1-4.

Picture bottom right: Although some signs look yellow after having been faded by the sun ...
Picture left: ... all trail signs **are** red with number indications. Any signs without numbers are indicating a **connecting** road. Here: You go right to stay on trail 15, but if you want to interconnect with trail 14 you need to go straight.
