Namur

Getting there

  1. From Brussels, take the E411 towards Luxembourg.
  2. Come off at Namur Centre junction (about 30 mins outside Brussels).
  3. Follow signs to Namur.
  4. Through town and up hill to Citadel/Chateau (can't be more specific as we got a bit confused here). Basically keep the big river on your left and turn up where you see the fortifications.
  5. At the very top part next to the Ampitheatre.
  6. Go down the huge drop offs to pick up the trail and come back up the hill.
  7. Four trails marked (red, blue, yellow and green) all well posted and easy to follow. Green is the longest and hardest.
  8. Route comes back to finish at the start point and the bar is very hospitable for mud splattered cyclists.

Ride review
8 December 2002; Chris M, Paul and James (25k)

Chris M:

Rating - medium to hard (in the mud). Great trail, 25k of hard riding with some tough climbs, fast out of control descents and only a couple of muddy fields to contend with (it is Belgium after all). Highlights were Paul getting up to 50 km/h on a steep descent, and me following a dare to get stuck in a puddle that had water over my hubs (thanks James). Low points were getting passed on a steep climb by some other riders who made us look like old women, and me destroying my rear gear cog thingie (oops).

We will definitely ride this again!
